The Ocean Conservation Trust at the National Marine Aquarium is looking for a Fire Door & Fire Compartmentation Technician to work with and support the Site Services team to develop and deliver a fire door and compartmentation wall maintenance/replacement and improvement programme. You will be joining a passionate team of people who care about marine conservation and customer care in one of the South West’s top visitor attractions.
You will be responsible for developing a programme of work to carry out inspections, maintenance and repairs to all site fire doors and fire compartmentation elements. You will need to ensure compliance to the approved standard and have good awareness of Health & Safety legislation relating to the delivery of the works.
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months, working Monday to Friday for 37.5 hours per week. Working hours are 8am to 4pm or similar where some flexibility will be required.. The salary is £25,988 per annum.
The candidate will need to be physically fit as this is a physically demanding role. The successful candidate will be flexible, practical, ‘hands-on’; as well as being focused on detail, quality, safety, and reliability. Experience in fire door maintenance is not essential as training will be provided. Carpentry and dry-lining skills and experience would be an advantage as would a good working knowledge of Health & Safety at work. You will need to have a proactive approach communicate effectively with other departments and members of the public.
