Carrying on from our Super Shark  post the National Marine Aquarium is celebrating our 10 year anniversary of the Sleeping with the Sharks Sleepover event. How exciting is that?!

After we opened our doors in the darkest of Autumn nights in 2006 we’ve held over 200 sleepovers for over 12,000 people! That’s enough people to fill Wembley stadium, Old Trafford or Millennium Stadium.  For that amount of people we’ve catered 1.4 Metric Tons (Wow!) of breakfast… now that’s a lot of bread. Now we’re not toasting our achievements just yet, as we are holding 36 Sleeping with the Sharks events this year so you can celebrate with us.

Our key goals for the event were furthering the education and engagement of our brave, shark-loving, members. Painting over 2,000 faces and taking part in one of our 500 tours that took place we strive to make the night an unforgettable and inspiring experience.  These events have been held to a variety of members from across the UK and the world; from cub-scouts to Atlantic cousins, we’ve been there to drive marine conservation through engagement.

We plan on making this year extra memorable with even more enthusiasm and purpose. With all our new creatures and the fantastic Jawsome exhibit now open the experience is as awe-inspiring as ever. So don’t forget to grab your toothbrush and book your tickets.

We look forward to another 10 years of sleeping with the sharks!
