This unique experience lets you feed Friday, our turtle, from the top of the UK’s deepest habitat!
Step into the shoes of our Animal Husbandry team and explore what it takes to feed Friday, our cheeky Green Sea Turtle! You’ll get hands on in our food preparation area, learn about our seagrass conservation work and how turtles in the wild love seagrass. After an exclusive behind the scenes tour from our knowledgeable supervisor, you’ll feed Friday at the top of the Atlantic Ocean Exhibit, the deepest in the UK! Create special memories in Plymouth that make you feel connected to the Ocean. All proceeds support vital conservation from our parent charity, the Ocean Conservation Trust.
What’s included:
- An introduction to our food preparation area and how we feed our 5000 animals.
- Preparation of Friday’s tasty lunch, participants 18+ are only permitted to use our knives.
- A overview of our seagrass work and the link to Turtle’s natural diet of seagrass in the wild.
- Animal introduction with our Supervisor in front of the Atlantic Ocean Exhibit.
- Explanation and populating of the ‘Feeding Record Sheet’ after weighing Friday’s food.
- A demonstration of the equipment we use to feed Friday and the importance of ‘operant conditioning’.
- 15 minutes feeding Friday!
- A day’s visit to the Aquarium for all participants.

Pricing:
Available for up to 4 people. £140 for two people (£70pp), £195 for 3 people (£65pp) and £240 for 4 people (£60pp). Please note: At least one adult (18+) will need to accompany and be responsible for any under 18s on the booking. The accompanying adult is required to purchase a ticket.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Any participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paying responsible adult (e.g. parent/carer/guardian) above the age of 18.
- 16-17yr olds will need a responsible adult (e.g. parent/carer/guardian) of 18yrs+ to sign the online waiver on their behalf upon booking, or complete onsite before the experience on the day.
- We do not offer refunds on this experience; however, we do reserve the right to withdraw the experience due to unforeseen circumstances – in this instance, a full refund will be issued. Every effort will be made to notify you at the earliest opportunity.
- The experience can be moved to a later date with over 24 hours notice. Please note, the experience can only be re-arranged once.
- Participants must always abide by staff instructions.
- We reserve the right to stop the experience at any point if we feel there is a risk to the safety of our animals, staff or yourself.
- Whilst every effort will be made to accommodate those with a disability or learning difficulty, due to practicality and health and safety this cannot always be achieved. Please contact us for advice before purchasing, this enables us to best meet the participants individual needs.
- Should you arrive late, your experience may be impacted. If you are over 30 minutes late, the session will not go ahead.
- Aquarium staff are not responsible for children during the experience.
- For your safety, closed toe shoes with grip must be worn.
Feed the Turtle
- Long hair must be tied back during the experience.
- Minimum age to take part in this experience is 8 years old. No babies, toddlers in pushchairs or otherwise carried infants will be permitted on the experience.
- Experience is available for up to two participants only.
- Please note, this experience includes the option to handle animal food. This has a strong odour, so a strong stomach is advised!
- You will be entering areas that are used for the preparation of seafood, it is advised that those with seafood allergies seek medical advice before taking part in the experience.
- This experience does not include the annual pass.

Are you able to cancel if I can't make it?
We are unable to refund this experience but can move to a later date with 24 hours notice before the session takes place. Please note you can only rearrange your date once.
Can I touch Friday the Turtle?
For the health and safety of yourself and Friday the Turtle, you are not allowed to touch Friday.
Is this experience suitable for someone in a wheelchair/with access needs?
We are currently working on making this experience access friendly. There are a number of steps required to get to the top of the tank.
Will it be smelly?
Our Food Preparation area will be the only area that will smell. We prepare food for all of the animals here so the room will smell of fish!
How long does the experience last?
The experience will take around 45 minutes. You’ll get to feed Friday for about 15 minutes.
What other animals might I see during the experience?
Friday will be of course be the star of the show, but being at the Atlantic Ocean Tank you will get to see Eagle rays, Southern Stingrays, Zebra Shark, Sand Tiger Shark and other smaller sharks!
Will I get wet?
On the most part this experience you will remain dry, although Friday may splash if he gets too excited!
